The core aim of this work was to develop an online web portal to ease updating and disseminating research data on HIV/AIDS in Uganda to the public, NADIC sought to develop a web-based research inventory with online access. To allow consultants and different research based organization use it as a hub of not only storage of research data but also dissemination of its research to the public both locally and internationally.
The National AIDS Documentation and Information Centre (NADIC) was established in 1994, to meet the information needs of all HIV/AIDS Stakeholders through promotion of appropriate data gathering and decision making at all levels.
Although NADIC has over the years made strides in collecting, analyzing and disseminating information to stakeholders in the National response, Research data still presented a big challenge as its was not well coordinated. Most of the research produced in the country was never made available to stakeholders but rather only published in International Journals which are not easily accessed. The Research, Academia, and Science (RAS) Self Coordinating Entity was established to coordinate research and feed UAC but hasn’t been able to do so due to limited capacity and absence of tools.
Uganda AIDS Commission contracted Data Team to develop an HIV
RESEARCH Online Database to support collection and storage of all research done on HIV and AIDS in Uganda and worldwide.
